Rukhsana Bibi, aged 41, a resident of Multan is suffering from a cataract affecting her right eye. Some signs and symptoms of cataracts include dim, clouded, or blurred vision, difficulty with vision during the night, increasing sensitivity of the eye to light and glare, seeing “halos” around lights, double vision in affected eyes. In order to heal from an ailment, Rukhsana has been advised to undergo Phaco of her right eye and placement of the intraocular lens (IOL). Phaco with an intraocular lens (IOL) is a brief surgical procedure where the cataract-affected lens inside the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial lens in its place. As Rukhsana Bibi awaits her surgery, she shares her ordeal in the following words:
“My husband is a Rickshaw driver. He earns an average of PKR. 400 – 500 per day, sometimes he even comes home empty handed. We have a house of our own, but with this amount of salary we have to manage a house and cater to the needs of our two daughters and one son. All of my children too have issues with their eye-sight. In these circumstances I can not afford to pay for my eye surgery. But this surgery is crucial for my well-being as my vision is now deteriorating and I have to cater to the needs of all my children too.”
In hopes of disease-free life, Rukhsana awaits your donations to undergo Phaco of the right eye with an intraocular lens (IOL) so she can support her children too.
