On the 5th of March, a devastating fire broke out in refugee camps in Coxs Bazar, leaving around 12,000 people homeless. Our teams are on the ground, Donate Now
In the afternoon of 5 March 2023, a massive and devastating fire broke out in Kutupalong Balukhali refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Flames blazed for some three hours in Camp 11, until the Rohingya refugee Safety Unit Volunteers trained on firefighting, local fire fighters and local authorities managed to contain the fire, around 5pm. So far, no casualties have been reported yet.
- Around 12,000 of 32,200 refugees in the camp has been displaced
- Over 2,000 shelters have been destroyed or damaged
- Over 90 facilites has been damaged including hospitals, water networks, mosques and learning centres
Our teams on the ground are on the ground assessing the needs. Islamic Relief aims to support those in need with shelter, water and sanitation.
