This Ramadan, I chose to work with Nisa Homes as I’ve been so passionate about helping women who have faced trauma. I’ve suffered an abusive marriage and know exactly how it feels to want to run away from your home in search of peace. These women continue to work hard even after immense trauma, abuse, war, and poverty. Let’s help them find a shelter for them & their kids for a new start. I love how Nisa Home provides them exactly the shelter that they need in their darkest days.

In times of financial difficulties, single mothers and women living in abuse are the first to suffer. They fear falling into poverty if they were to leave, and even accessing supports like transportation, counseling or housing is unaffordable. Couples who are experiencing financial strain are 3.5x more likely to be involved in domestic violence, and this is what we're seeing today.

Nisa Homes is the first national group of second stage shelters for Muslim women and children in Canada.

With 8 homes across Canada, we aim to ensure women and children have a safe place to turn to if they are experiencing domestic violence, homelessness or forced resettlement.

Through the services we provide, the 3 month length of stay, and the supports to find employment, education and housing, 85% of our clients have succeeded in becoming self-sufficient and independent.
